DIY spring bag!

Hey friends!

We are welcoming spring with this easy tutorial for the ultimate spring bag! There's not a better way to follow this season’s soft colors trend, than transforming this vinyl skirt into a lovely everyday bag! Yes, you have heard it right! An amazing bag out of an old skirt! The process is really easy and all you need is a skirt and a sewing machine!

In order to make the straps i cut the hem at about 5 cm.

Time to sew the bag! Place the fabric inside out and with a pencil draw the stitches. I was lucky that my skirt had already inside the linen fabric so that made the process even easier! To avoid the square shape, sew the corners of the fabric to give it a rounded shape.

Stitch the straps of the bag on the inner part and you are almost done. Now you can turn the inner part inside the bag.

This step is optional in case you want to make the bag more secure. You can buy this magnetic clasp from the stores that sell sewing supplies. For the insert make small holes on the inner part of the bag and press the studs to stable it. Your magnet clasp is ready.

In less than 20 minutes you will be holding your brand new shopping bag! Wear it with your jeans and a flower top! So why don't you visit your closet and maybe you will find your next bag among your old skirts!

Old vanity case restyled!

This is not a jewelry or accessories tutorial. It's something more. It's time to start a little bit of decoration projects! Recently I found my mom’s old vanity case and I started thinking if it would end up in the recycle bin or if I could transform it into a contemporary and romantic decorative element. My mom also is an amazing and talented artist when it comes to recycle and transform old things. So I have a strong legacy when I am involved in these projects. I am going to show you step by step the procedure and you will see how something old and broken can become beautiful and "alive" again!

The materials that I used:

Scissors

Glue for fabrics

Pencil

Golden spray paint

Acrylic golden paint

Paint brush

Paper

Scrap fabric

First of all I had to paint with the golden spray the clasp because it was so rusted. I placed a paper around it, so I won’t paint the fabric. I painted the small areas that I couldn’t spray with a paint brush using gold acrylic color.

In order to make a pattern I used plain paper and wrapped it around the vanity case. With my pencil, I draw the lines and cut these two patterns. I placed the pattern on my fabric and cut the pieces that I needed.

With my paint brush I put a generous amount of glue in the upper part and started to glue on the fabric.

Extra tip: stretch the fabric while you put it on and with the back point of the scissors press inside the joining parts.

Tadaaa! It came out great and I decided that it can decorate my mini bookcase beside my favorite frame. So find old objects and rediscover their vintage beauty. I am sure you can create without spending money, unique and fabulous objects!

DIY of the week : infinity scarf and beany out of a pullover!

Infinity scarf out of a pullover

Infinity scarf worn as a beany!

Hi friends!

Except my passion for rings and necklaces I also love scarfs in various colors and textures. As I was browsing my closet I found an old knitted blouse and decided to transform it into an infinity scarf and beany. With only one pair of scissors and a few stitches you can make it too! 

So let's start.

You will need :

1) an old knitwear (preferably a pullover)

2) a pair of scissors

3) a sewing machine

Place your knitted blouse on a straight surface and cut down the sleeves.

Now take the remaining piece (body part) and let's go sewing it.

Adjust your sewing machine to zig zag mode and sew 1cm the hem. 

That's it! You have all-in-one scarf & beany ready to wear and you have re-used your old knitwear, too!

Plain T-shirt transformation!

Happy New Year 2014 to all! 
Holidays are over so it's time to be busy again. We hope the new year brings much more inspiration and good ideas to share with you. Let's welcome 2014 with a simple T-shirt refashion. The process was fun and easy and the result unique and stylish. 

Καλή Χρονιά σε όλους!
Οι γιορτές δυστυχώς τελείωσαν και τώρα πρέπει να επιστρέψουμε στις ασχολίες μας. Ελπίζουμε η νέα χρονιά να μας φέρει περισσότερη έμπνευση και όμορφες ιδέες που θα μοιραστούμε μαζί σας. Ας υποδεχτούμε λοιπόν τη νέα χρονιά με τη μεταμόρφωση ενός απλού T-shirt . Η διαδικασία ήταν τόσο ευχάριστη όσο και εύκολη, το δε αποτέλεσμα μοναδικό και μοδάτο.

For this project we used a basic cotton stretch T-shirt bought from a big chain fashion store. You can use whatever t-shirt or top you have in your closet for this project. You will also need paint for dyeing fabrics which you will find in craft and hobby stores. For the stencils either you will make some yourself or you can buy ready made. For this project we designed by ourselves the skull, lightning and cross stencil. 

Για αυτό το project χρησιμοποιήσαμε ένα απλό βαμβακερό τοπ αγορασμένο από κατάστημα μεγάλης αλυσίδας ρούχων. Μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε οποιοδήποτε μπλουζάκι έχετε στην ντουλάπα σας. Επίσης θα χρειαστείτε ειδικές βαφές για υφάσματα που θα βρείτε σε καταστήματα με υλικά για hobby. Για τα στένσιλ είτε μπορείτε να φτιάξετε τα δικά σας ή να αγοράσετε έτοιμα. Εμείς σχεδιάσαμε μόνοι μας τα στένσιλ που χρησιμοποιήσαμε (νεκροκεφαλή, κεραυνό και σταυρό). 

For the application of paint we used a special spongy brush which we discovered at H&M shops. 

Για την εφαρμογή του χρώματος πάνω στα στένσιλ χρησιμοποιήσαμε ένα πινέλο με σφουγγαράκι στην άκρη το οποίο το ανακαλύψαμε τυχαία στα H&M. 

For the stencils we used a transparent sheet kind of presentation sheet. First you will draw the shape you want and then you will cut the inner part of the drawing with a sharp utility knife (like X-acto knife). 

Για να φτιάξετε τα στένσιλ θα χρειαστείτε μια διαφάνεια πλαστική παρόμοια με αυτές που χρησιμοποιούνται στις παρουσιάσεις. Θα ζωγραφίσετε το σχέδιο που θέλετε και έπειτα με τη βοήθεια ενός κοπιδιού θα κόψετε το εσωτερικό του σχεδίου αφήνοντας το κενό που θα περάσει το χρώμα. 

After making your stencils we are ready to start the paint application. Lay out your T-shirt on a flat surface and put the stencil at the top of the left side (near armhole). Firmly hold the stencil with one hand and then apply the paint on it. With the help of the sponge - brush apply the white paint carefully. You can put the stencils side by side to make columns of stamps or however you want. The possibilities are endless. 

Μετά την κατασκευή των στένσιλ είμαστε έτοιμοι να απλώσουμε το χρώμα. Τοποθετήστε το μπλουζάκι σε μία επίπεδη επιφάνεια και τοποθετήστε το στένσιλ στην επάνω αριστερή πλευρά (κοντά στην μασχάλη). Σταθεροποιήστε με το χέρι σας το στένσιλ πάνω στη μπλούζα και εφαρμόστε το χρώμα. Με τη βοήθεια του πινέλου -σφουγγάρι εφαρμόστε ομοιόμορφα το χρώμα επάνω στο στένσιλ. Μπορείτε να τοποθετήσετε τα στένσιλ το ένα δίπλα στο άλλο για να κάνετε στήλες από σχέδια ή να τα βάλετε όπως θέλετε εσείς. Οι επιλογές είναι άπειρες!

DIY: Christmas Party clutch!

Hello Friends!

We are 12 days away from Christmas! We are already in Christmas mood and we can't wait to gather with family and friends. Today we are showing you how to make a dazzling evening Christmas party clutch bag in less than an hour! This amazing clutch is what you need for a Christmas night out! 

Γεια σας φίλες μας!

Μας μένουν 12 ημέρες μέχρι τα Χριστούγεννα! Είμαστε ήδη σε Χριστουγεννιάτικη διάθεση και ανυπομονούμε να βρεθούμε με την οικογένειά μας και τους φίλους μας. Σήμερα θα σας δείξουμε πως να φτιάξετε ένα εντυπωσιακό βραδινό τσαντάκι σε λιγότερο από μία ώρα! Αυτό το απίθανο τσαντάκι είναι ό,τι χρειάζεστε για ένα Χριστουγεννιάτικο πάρτυ!

 

For the clutch you will need two pieces of different fabric. We used a silver fabric of mixed polyester and mohair quality for the outer part. For the inner part instead of a lining we used a thick denim fabric because it makes the clutch more stiff.

Για το τσαντάκι θα χρειαστείτε δυο ειδών υφάσματα. Εμείς χρησιμοποιήσαμε ένα ασημί ύφασμα από πολυεστέρα και μοχέρ για το εξωτερικό μέρος. Για το εσωτερικό αντί για φόδρα χρησιμοποιήσαμε ένα χοντρό ύφασμα τζιν.

We place both fabrics facing one another and we cut them in the dimensions we want. Then we place the upper side of the silver fabric interfacing the denim's light blue side.

Τοποθετούμε τα δύο υφάσματα το ένα πάνω στο άλλο και κόβουμε ακριβώς στις ίδιες διαστάσεις. Έπειτα τοποθετούμε την καλή πλευρά του ασημί υφάσματος αντικριστά με την ανοιχτόχρωμη πλευρά του τζιν.

We sew with our sewing machine the two pieces of fabric leaving the one side open. After finishing the sewing, we turn it inside out until the outer side of the silver fabric appears.

Ράβουμε στην ραπτομηχανή γύρω γύρω αφήνοντας το επάνω μέρος ανοιχτό. Αφού τελειώσουμε το ράψιμο, γυρίζουμε το μέσα έξω μέχρι να εμφανιστεί η καλή πλευρά του ασημί υφάσματος.

Then we iron the side stitching very well. Now we have to sew the bottom side of the clutch. From the outer side of the silver fabric we fold the fabric up to the point we want and we pin it. It's time for sewing again! We sew both sides very well.

'Επειτα σιδερώνουμε καλά τις ραφές και στις δύο πλευρές. Τώρα πρέπει να ράψουμε το κάτω μέρος της τσάντας. Από την καλή μεριά του ασημί υφάσματος διπλώνουμε το κάτω μέρος στο ύψος που θέλουμε. Στερεώνουμε με μία καρφίτσα και πάμε πάλι στη ραπτομηχανή! Ράβουμε τις δυο ακριανές πλευρές πολύ καλά.

After sewing our clutch will look like this (see photo above from left). Now we will turn the inside out again and we will sew the finishing around the upper part. You fold the fabric carefully and you sew it. 

Μετά το ράψιμο το τσαντάκι μας θα είναι όπως επάνω στην πρώτη φωτογραφία από αριστερά. Τώρα θα γυρίσουμε το μέσα έξω πάλι και θα πάμε να ράψουμε το τελείωμα στο επάνω μέρος. Το διπλώνετε προσεκτικά και το γαζώνετε.

Now let's go decorate our clutch with a nice motif. We place this lovely heart shaped motif onto a similar fabric with the clutch's outer fabric but in a more dark color. We sew it carefully (by hand) our motif onto the second fabric and then we cut it around in a heart shape. Then we sew it on our bag's flap (by hand again).

Τώρα πάμε να φτιάξουμε το μοτιφ μας για να στολισουμε το 'καπάκι' της τσάντας μας. Τοποθετούμε αυτό το όμορφο μοτίφ καρδιάς πάνω σε ένα παρόμοιο ύφασμα με αυτό της τσάντας μας, σε πιο σκούρα απόχρωση όμως. Το ράβουμε προσεκτικά γύρω γύρω και το κόβουμε ακολουθώντας το σχήμα της καρδιάς. Έπειτα το ράβουμε στο χέρι πάνω στο ΄καπάκι' της τσάντας μας.

 

This is the clutch we made! We loved the result! You can make similar clutches as a gift for your friends. We are sure they are going to love them! It will be a handmade gift they will appreciate.

Friendship style watch strap!

Hello friends!
Last weekend I came up with this brilliant idea. I have had this small but elegant watch from Follie Follie kept in my drawer for years now. From time to time I changed its leather strap but always felt that something was missing so I've worn it only a few times. Lately I have a mania with knitted bracelets, so I figured it would be really nice if, instead of a classic leather strap, I embellished the watch with a friendship bracelet style strap. So, I chose the chevron pattern which looks so nice. I just love the new look I gave to this simple watch. I love wearing it all day long and everybody is asking me where did I find this lovely jewellery watch.
